REFER A YOUTH

Do you know a youth who would benefit from a caring, long-term mentor?

Silver Lining Mentoring Community Based Mentoring (CBM) matches youth involved with DCF with a screened and trained volunteer mentor who commits to meet with that young person for a minimum of 6-8 hours per month for at least one year. Youth and mentors are supported by clinically trained social workers who help mentors to develop an authentic and supportive relationship with the young person over time. Mentors are the person they can rely on to visit them at their placement, take them out into the community on weekends, and be a consistent support when they lack other visiting resources.

Youth who may be eligible for Community Based Mentoring are:

  • Ages 7+

  • Reside within the Greater Boston Area

  • Want a mentor

  • Impacted by out of home experience

  • Currently involved with the Department of Children and Families and approved for Family Network funding

Caregivers and Providers: To see if your young person may be eligible for Community Based Mentoring program, please complete this initial survey to provide more information on your youth.
