VOLUNTEER
While volunteer mentors are needed consistently throughout the year, Silver Lining Mentoring also engages volunteers in time-limited projects that support SLM as an organization and enrich our programs.
Silver Lining Mentoring is certified as a Service Enterprise Initiative by Points of Light, denoting SLM as a nonprofit committed to achieving the highest impact on volunteer time. Other opportunities to volunteer with Silver Lining Mentoring include the following:
If you’re passionate about mentoring and you’re ready to advocate for youth impacted by foster care, consider joining Silver Lining Mentoring’s volunteer leadership team. We are actively recruiting devoted professionals to join our Board of Directors, as well as young professionals to be a part of our Board of Ambassadors program. For more information, email Jim Ricciuti, Director of Development, at jim@silverliningmentoring.org.
The Match Gala is Silver Lining Mentoring’s signature event celebrating the impact of our programming, honoring an outstanding mentoring match, and highlighting the service of the volunteer mentors and the accomplishments of our mentees. The Match Committee helps Silver Lining Mentoring host a successful and fun event each May to support SLM’s youth programming. For more information, email Jim Ricciuti, Director of Development, at jim@silverliningmentoring.org.
Silver Lining Mentoring is proud to partner with the John Hancock Non-Profit Partner Program for the opportunity to participate in the Boston Marathon. If you are interested in running in a future marathon or helping SLM support its runners, email Jim Ricciuti, Director of Development, at jim@silverliningmentoring.org.
Through the Learn & Earn program and other enrichment events that SLM hosts throughout the year, young adults learn about financial literacy, education and professional training opportunities, and employment pathways, among other essential life skills. Volunteer coaches supplement the support offered by mentors by bringing additional perspectives through speaking on panels, participating in networking opportunities, and providing one-on-one connections with matches. Contact Alex Parkes, Volunteer Manager, at alex@silverliningmentoring.org to get started.
If you have personal or professional skills to lend to Silver Lining Mentoring (e.g. graphic design, social media analytics, data processing, event planning, photography, etc), we welcome the opportunity to explore how these skills may be used in support of Silver Lining Mentoring’s mission. Contact Alex Parkes, Volunteer Manager, at alex@silverliningmentoring.org to get started.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, the first step is to attend an information session. Questions? Please click here or contact Alex Parkes, Volunteer Manager, at alex@silverliningmentoring.org.
