Silver Lining empowers foster youth to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. SLM provides long term one-to-one mentoring and life skills development for young people who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The national average length of a mentor is 9 months while the average length at Silver Lining is a remarkable 55 months. As a result, 67% of the youth involved at Silver Lining Mentoring are employed versus the 43% national average and Silver Lining Mentoring youth are two times more likely to college than their peers in foster care.
Silver Lining Mentoring’s first youth leadership retreat in P’town was magical! We were moved by the kindness and generosity of Tom Shirk and Felipe Lara, the staff at The White Porch Inn and so many local businesses who treated our young people like royalty. None of our youth had been to Provincetown before and it is impossible to imagine a warmer welcome. One of our youth leaders declared that it was the best weekend of her entire life!Silver Lining Mentoring CEO, Colby Swettberg
